Jared W. Brown, Psy.D. has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for more than twenty-five years. Preparation for occupations in the fields of mental health and human relations began early in his life. Dr. Brown was raised in mid-city Los Angeles, an area saturated with high crime and gang activity. This influential exposure to urban city life as a teenager later sparked his interest in helping street youth.
Dr. Brown completed a B.A. in Psychology at San Francisco State University in 1965. The transition from San Francisco State University to the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam era in the late 1960s provided further exposure to human behavior and broadened exposure to the painful plight of human kind.
In 1968, Dr. Brown took a position as a Juvenile Probation Officer and, after completing a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology, worked with the State of Utah as a Rehabilitation Counselor with a mental health caseload. In 1978, Dr. Brown became a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. While in private practice as a MFT, he continued his education, eventually earning a doctorate in Psychology in 1983.
Throughout his years as a licensed therapist, Dr. Brown has encountered various trials in his personal and professional life. These experiences helped him learn and grow spiritually and professionally.
Dr. Brown has written this book hoping that others, facing similar dilemmas in life, will gain insight from the knowledge of his experiences and thus will be well equipped to face personal challenges in their own lives.
